3/12/2018 - InfiniteKM Works with ONTraC Program to Update Data Collection

Toronto, ON March 12, 2018

As part of its ongoing partnership with the Ontario Nurse Transfusion Coordinators (ONTraC), InfiniteKM is pleased to announce the launch of new data collection forms and ongoing website updates.

The ONTraC program portal plays a vital role in the collection of data on blood transfusion practices providing important information to doctors, nurses, and patients across Ontario. The accurate collection and analysis of this data helps to ensure that blood resources are allocated and used as efficiently as possible and InfiniteKM is proud to help facilitate this endeavor.

The InfiniteKM team worked closely with ONTraC Program administrators to implement updates to data collection forms that will enable coordinators to collect better and more detailed information to enhance the overall study.

The ONTraC Program website provides a space for health care professionals to access resources, share best practices, and get information on meetings and conferences as well as educational resources for patients who may be participating in the blood conservation program.

The InfiniteKM team have worked with administrators and with nurses to re-design the ONTraC Program website with a focus on making it more patient friendly and emphasizing the role of nurses and other health care professionals.

“We are so proud to be a part of the incredible work that Ontario Nurse Transfusion Coordinators are doing to improve health care outcomes in our province; it’s a partnership that is very dear to us” Brad Sellors, Managing Director, InfiniteKM

About The ONTraC Program.
The Ontario Nurse Transfusion Coordinators (ONTraC) Program is a Provincial Patient Blood Management (PBM) or Blood Conservation Program (BCP) that attempts to enhance transfusion practice by promoting alternatives to donor or allogeneic blood transfusion in surgical patients, improving patient care and well-being in a cost-effective manner.
Formed in 2002, the ONTraC program is a unique initiative supported by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) Blood Programs Coordinating Office (BPCO) to implement a peri-operative patient blood management program in 25 hospitals throughout Ontario. The institutions, large and small, were chosen on the basis of blood utilization and geographic distribution, and are a combination of teaching and community hospitals and represent approximately 65% of blood used in Ontario.
The program is coordinated through St. Michael’s Hospital by the Program Manager, Alanna Howell RN, and the Program Director, Dr. John Freedman.
This multidisciplinary, multifaceted program aims at transfusion practice change involving anesthesiologists, surgeons, internists, hematologists, nurses, technologists, hospital administrators, and patients.
